This is the 6th shift in the Great Himalayan Trail. This shift is of 28 days hence it is one of the longest parts of the great Himalayan trail. Just like other parts, this shift also begins with a nice tour of the UNESCO-listed world heritage sites based in Kathmandu valley. In this shift, you will make your journey from the central part i.e. Kathmandu to the western part of Nepal and the mid-western part of Nepal. Thus, on this journey one can experience the diverse lifestyle and cultures of the people living in different parts of Nepal.

The official trek on this shift begins from the beautiful lake city of Pokhara. While you are in Pokhara, you will get to witness the magnificent view of the Machhapuchhre and Annapurna ranges along with other mountains. Moreover, you will also get to explore the dry and arid valley of Jomsom and pass through many villages before reaching Chharka Bhot. In between, you will cross many passes as well. And before moving on to other destinations, you will take a rest day at Chharka Bhot for observation. Thus, you will leave behind the western part of the trek and start the journey to the midwestern part of Nepal.

While in the midwestern region, you will explore more and more dry valleys with stunning landscapes. As you start moving forward, you will see a vast open field that is surrounded by the trans-Himalayas and crystal-clear lakes and rivers. You will be walking along the banks of these rivers or will be crossing them. Together with that, you will pass many villages where you encounter people leading the same lifestyles as any other developing region of Nepal but with different traditions and customs. The trekking areas you will be covering in the midwestern region of Nepal are more remote and secluded than the other regions of Nepal and some of them follow the BonPo religion. Nonetheless, you will be exploring Shey Gumba and beautiful Phoksundo Lake which is one of the gems of this region.

The journey is filled with adventure. So you will make plenty of unforgettable memories. Thus, Himalayan Ecological Trekking invites you to join us on this beautiful voyage to explore the dry and arid places of Nepal and gain the experience of remote area trekking in Nepal.
