About Great Himalayan Trail 27 days (Final step)
This is the final stage in the Great Himalayan Trail which is 27 days long in the remote area of Nepal. It takes place in far western Nepal and lets trekkers taste the raw beauty of Nepal that has remained untouched. So trekkers here can experience pure natural beauty. This trekking trail is not for everybody. As the trekking route is rugged most of the time and most of the trekking area is located at a high altitude area, it will be strenuous for people with no prior trekking experience. Nonetheless, it is a culturally and scenically diverse trek that entails passing through natural wonders.
The journey begins with a scenic flight to Nepalgunj from Kathmandu Airport. This lengthy trek includes taking another daring flight to Talcha from Nepalgunj. Upon reaching Talcha, you will descend to serene Rara Lake to enjoy its tranquil ambience. The trek from then continues through villages, cliffs, rivers, jungles, and daring mountain passes. You will pass notable villages of the region like Gamgadi, Bam, Darma, HaLij, Simikot, Amjilosa, Tila, Manepeme, and many more villages along the way. These villages have residents in small numbers and the people you will see here are mostly aged people. Also, villages are scattered and have a unique design. The villages are mostly made of stone and look like fortresses.
There are many gompas, chortens, mani walls, and prayer flags in between the journey which gives you an insight into the religious aspects of Nepal. With fortress-like houses being the highlight of the journey, the unique stunning landscapes are another fascinating part of this journey. You will visit the little-visited corner of Nepal where the resilient people of Simikot, Hilsa, and many other small yet culturally affluent villages are. The villages in the high-altitude areas are isolated by snow and ice and surrounded by Himalayan peaks. This trek follows the ancient salt trade routes featuring timeless monasteries and villages, yak meadows, and glacial streams.
All in all, it is a beautiful yet adventurous trek in the distant part of Nepal where ancient culture and natural beauty still stays true and beautiful. The people, sights, and the memory made here will forever stay engraved in your memory.
